This is my Third article on much the same subject that I have written about previously.

In the last two , I have written  a few pointers, and also gave you some home work to do.

You will,  at least make your own list of ABC/AOC/AUC, and then try,  as a integral member of your own family as well as your  own community, to try and inculcate some changes that are so very important in today’s times.

To help you, make your own lists of ABC/AOC/AUC that you are concerned about, that, which will eventually help you change some things in the life of your own families, I’m going to now talk about some more facets…

So:

                                                             

To name a few,   HAWA , PANI, & KHANA are three important topics that collectively  govern the state of "W_ Healthiness" we are in. We shall therefore be deliberating upon some key features directly /  indirectly based on them.

 

ENVIRONMENT  ( HAVA):

It means THE HAVA, The 'Abuhava' as we fondly call it in Hindi.  The hava that we breathe in..how good is it?

How good or bad it is we already discussed in the previous episode. Now what remains is that , that segment of the hava that we can some how try to control ..

PANI: (STATE OF WATER):

Two third of the EARTH's surface is covered by water, and 76% of the human body is also made up of water.  If this is the ratio  there is  GROSS & URGENT  need to address the Quality  of the water  that we use and consume;

The water that we drink, consume, for personal,  domestic   agricultural, industrial,  and very many day to day   activities, needs to be dealt with as a whole subject.  Suffice here to say, that the deplorable condition of our health is also majorly attributed to the extremely pollutant water that we use.

The mass contamination of Water bodies  (Oceans, Seas,  Rivers, lakes, and many such other bodies,) carries on unabated. We do understand that it is a Herculean task, a mammoth , AREA BEYOND CONTROL(ABC) and, 

an insurmountable  upheaval, but time has come to address it with a WAR FOOTING.

To name a few:  Domestic  and Industrial waste, high content of Insecticides and Pesticides that find their way into the water bodies  ( since proper effluent systems are either not in place or callously ignored),  The excessive use of Detergents n Fertilizers by man, for personal and agricultural consumption  is so humongous  a quantum, that many , more often  than not, just choose to ignore by turning a blind eye to the whole system. All these, and many more, that I  have not mentioned, thus are causing a great HAVOC to Man , mammal, aquatic and marine life, as also disturbing the Ecosystem. ABC,as also AOC, since the Government machinery et all, have not yet laid down strict SOP’s with mandatory compliance, thus this area that is actually AOC can be brought under control but, with high level collaborative talks n agendas at many a levels.


The water pollution can thus be caused by Direct and Indirect sources. This has long term n short term fall outs  in that, Diseases,  destruction of ecosystem, EUTROPHICATION(chemicals in water that encourage growth of algae), effect food chains when toxins and pollutants  in water are consumed by aquatic  animals..Fishes etc which we finally eat. 

NUTRITION (KHANA)

Then, the all important major topic  of Food  that we eat, its quality  and quantity ,   its nutritive content.

Let me write what I mostly believe in… approximately 25% of the illnesses that we encounter in ones life time, are genetically acquired. Can we do anything about them?

25% are/can be attributed to RTA’s and other kinds of accidents. We can try to improve the condition to some extent yes!

 

This thus leaves us to nearly 50% of conditions that are acquired by faulty selection, incorrect procedures, sub standard edible material, be it in raw form, semi cooked, over processed, or over laden with excessive amounts of pesticides, or insecticides, at whatever , where ever when ever added to the consumables. The improper cooking habits, the selection of the food that we eat/ prefer, the wrong practices we adhere to, are directly / indirectly related to our GUT.   This  is thus a very  very   important quadrant that is the root cause  of over 50% of maladies faced by man today.

This  by itself is a very large n herculean subject. Thousands of people: the doctors, the nutrionists,   the dieticians, the bureaucrats, the food n safety panelists and research scientists, not to forget  the ever concerned mothers, the over protective fathers; each n every one is very much concerned about this huge and humongous quadrant.

Yes, it is a delicate but very important  task, me too shall work my mind and share with you, what all I personally do, and how I try to bend n mend my mind n my system to try and see that the GUT of The Memberaan of my family remain innocuous, quiet n complaint free.

 A lot needs to be discussed on this.

 

Besides Hawa,  Pani & Khana. We need to revisit  “THE  E-A-R-N”

(cardinal pillars of health)  ……

Now lets understand some extra points :

We have discussed about E..Exercise..yes lots will be covered here in this sub topic also.

We have discussed to some amount on ATTITUDE- another sub topic that will be discussed in detail in coming times.

We have not discussed in detail about adequate REST. This requires careful planning n deliberation. It’s a very delicate and sensitive sub topic,

And the last but not the least..

Nutrition.

I’ve stepped briefly upon it, but there will be pages on this sub topic. I assured  you in one of my earlier episodes that I’m going to make it as interesting as much as I can. I’m sure you all are going to love it all.

Friends, why I’m delving into these detailed bits is 'coz as I mentioned we have to learn how to tabulate our ABC/ AOC/ AUC formulas.


1)Try to reduce the harmful effects,

2)Conservation of potable water,

3)Better sewage disposal,

4)Use of environment friendly products and many more !!!

Talking about POTABLE WATER:

Plentiful of harmful bacteria, high level of chlorine in water, diminished levels of nutritive value of potable water, increased levels of toxins and gases in water  compounded with large clusters of water molecules, water more acidic than alkaline,  and many such more factors can probably run into pages. We need to address all this coz as the main topic says..

Answer lies in addressing the prevention at all levels

Let's now   re-focus on the FOUR PILLARS of EARN

E: Exercise.

We need to burn the calories we consume. We need to exercise our limbs.  We need to be mobile; Be it just plain walking, jogging or running. Be it zumba, yoga, or aerobics , or The “more modern trends of Pilates_

Base line is Burn the calories, and increase the BMI.

A: Attitude:

In this Action paced  life, of cut throat competition, and stress laden overriding bountiful factors, it is with a great mental effort to think , act and behave with proper positive attitude.  For this, a one time dose of a magic wand will never do.

This has to be cultivated with precision and decision, and it is by doing, thinking and acting proactively  that you can maintain a positive attitude. A lot of via medias will have to be turned to. Proactively using your wakeful hours, ignoring negative media and news reports that are so plentiful these days, cultivating good reading habits, meeting positive minded people, and remaining involved in positive restructuring of body mind and soul  as an ongoing phenomenon besides meditation n chanting of religious mantras can be soothing alternatives.

 R: REST:

Are we sleeping adequate.

The sleep we are actually sleeping, is or restful ?

 Is it disturbed? .

Are we getting up fresh? The stress we cope with day in and day out, the late hours of eating, staying up late into the night, defying what the body clock really demands, no time, no inclination to   exercise, the  extremely late hours of eating leading to  heavy and bloated stomach, all take a tumultuous toll on the sleep pattern.

We should rationalize our selves, our priorities, reschedule our meal habits, reprogramme ourselves mentally  so they we get adequate and restful sleep.

Today, binge eating, turning to instant  and easily  accessible junk food is gaining momentum over freshly prepared home cooked foods.

Such and many other factors all attribute to further compromising the  immunity. Another significant find is increased incidences of fractures due to weak and fragile bones.People are becoming more prone to infections and frequent allergies.

Lack of sleep, sedentary lifestyle eating ill refined carbs ,drinking areated drinks, consuming bad quality of fats( trans-fats) all this have led to further compromise on the immunity status.

 

We need to address all this coz, as the main topic says..

 

“THIS IS LIFE”..    SO LETS LEARN ..HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS FACET OF LIFE!!!!

Time to ask yourself the most important question?

Are we W_healthy?

 

There  are a few abbreviations that we have been talking about. 

 ABC/AOC/AUC .

AUC stands for Action under your control, and ABC correspondingly stands for Actions Beyond your control of man, while AOC is Area out of control. 

To understand further, we must accept that there are so many facets in life and day to day activities,  that are beyond your personal realm,  so we should leave those  to others viz  RWA, Govt Machinery  ( HAWA/PANI) , and in turn focus on AUC ( Actions under your control), like managing what you yourself can do. We must understand  that

there is no shortcut to becoming W-healthy. No jadoo. It has to be a strong determined daily deliberate action. It has to be learnt, then only it can be earned. So let's look at this sample table that I have tried to make regarding some pertinent issues:

Improper dispposable of non biodegradable  plastics & household wastes

Overpopulation >>> especially China & India. + increased urbanization

Improper functioning of sewage treatment plants

 

These  calibrations can run into miles & miles, but I’m just here to whet your appetite and now help u to focus on a few MUSTS:

 A FEW MUSTS: those few which are under your control

At the home & house level:

Maximize  fresh airway entry by keeping doors & windows open in the day time .

Ban smoking inside the house.

Use exhaust fans especially while cooking.

Use door mats to clean foot wear before entering your home.

Change filters of AC / Dehumidifier as and when you feel the air is not fresh.

Do not cover up house hold  Odour  with chemical  Deodrants.

Minimize clutter.

Avoid over carpeting your floors.

Clean, wipe mop daily with a vegetable based floor cleanser.

Do not let the curtains be spread open all the time, Let fresh air and sunlight enter the rooms.

Dry-clean/wash your curtains  every quarterly, expose your mattresses to open sunlight if possible every 15 days, (I do that ever since I saw my mom do them when I was but, a kid).

Segregate household/kitchen waste into separate disposable bags  for dry/ wet wastes. Garbage removal from house should be a daily process.

 

Avoid using plastics.

Declutter your house. Throw out stuff you haven’t used in years.

OUTSIDE HOUSE

Have the outside of your home free of litter, garbage, and unrequired clutter.Do not burn garbage / dried leaves etc in your garden.

Avoid car if u can walk,

Do regular servicing of your cars/ scooters/ bikes, Turn off engine of car when stationary.

Prefer to do car pooling while going to work .

 

AUC:  UNDER YOUR CONTROL, IF YOU WANT TO

1).Prevent the preventable & Delay the inevitable.

2) Connect with proper information , then  correct yourself in work action and deed.

3)  Work out (caloric intake should be matched with its output)

4) Change your lifestyle and instill corrective steps.

5)  Quality and quantity of food should be emphasized upon.

6) Hydrate your body well.

7)Maintain proper time schedule for daily routine, and try and stick to the rule especially on working days..

7) Positive mental attitude,  give positive affirmations to your self.

8) 10 minutes of meditation per day

9) Thank God for blessing the family.

Lets summarize:

Boosting immunity with adequate exercise, remaining positive, following ways to generate proper  and restful sleep, and always being conscious  of diet, nutrition, quantity, quality, eating more of whole plant based  food, fermented foods, reducing sugar intake,  manage stress take right supplements, and many more  such small and simple steps will help us to maintain our E_A_R_N then, even if HAWA & PANI factors are ABC, at least KHANA factor which can be brought by your deliberation into the AUC component.

Let's end this session by trying to find an equation between AUC and AOC and then start looking for alternatives to becoming W_healthy!!!!
